“Look closely at the moving light. Try to find a pattern, a motion that repeats itself.
Actually, it doesn’t! The motion is completely unpredictable because of the phenomenon of chaos. Governed by chaos theory, the double pendulum’s movement is sensitive to the tiniest changes, creating paths that never repeat yet follow precise physical laws. It’s a reminder that even in apparent randomness, there is beauty—and perhaps, those moments of unexpected joy.”
In what appears to be randomness, there lies hidden beauty and order. Within its unpredictable motion, we discover the subtle joys that often go unnoticed in our daily lives. Those moments of unexpected happiness, those fleeting instances of bliss—they still shine amidst the chaos, offering us profound and heartfelt reminders of the beauty in life’s unpredictability

でも、実は見つからないのです！この動きは、カオスという現象によって完全に予測不可能なのです。
カオス理論に基づき、ダブルペンデュラムの動きはごくわずかな変化に敏感に反応し、決して同じ軌跡を辿ることはありません。それでいて、厳密な物理法則に従っています。
一見ランダムに見える中には、隠れた美しさと秩序が存在します。その予測不可能な動きの中にこそ、私たちは日常に潜むささやかな幸せを見出すことができます。予想外の喜びや、刹那的な幸福の瞬間——それらはカオスの中でもなお輝きを放ち、人生の予測不可能さに潜む美しさを深く心に刻むのです。

This 3 piece object installation is made for the superstudioshow @ milan design week for the theme “Happiness” see below for prompt*.
Happiness, much like chaos, is unpredictable—it emerges in unexpected moments and reveals itselfthrough the interplay of light, motion, and discovery. I curated an installation that embraces thechaotic nature of joy through the dynamic movements of a double pendulum, captured and transformedby light, fabric, and color.

The unpredictable motion of the pendulum reflects the fleeting nature of happiness—always shifting, never repeating, yet always following its own intrinsic rhythm.

Each installation offers a unique sensory experience, inviting visitors to reflect on how happinessreveals itself in unexpected ways. The interplay of movement and materiality creates an ever-changingvisual narrative, encouraging the audience to question how joy manifests in their own lives. Theinstallation name f(∞) = ? symbolizes infinity as a metaphor for the endless possibilities of joy,prompting us to explore the boundless ways happiness can take form.
予測不可能性の美しさ
幸福はしばしば予期せぬ形で訪れ、一瞬で過ぎ去り、時に隠れた存在でもあります。このインスタレーションでは、ダブル・ペンデュラムのダイナミックな動きを用いて、予測不可能性の美しさを探求します。それは、人生における最も深く儚い喜びと共鳴するものです。
一見ランダムに見えるものの中には、隠れた秩序と美しさが存在します。それは、私たちの人生において、何気ない瞬間から幸福が生まれることとよく似ています。その予測できない動きの中で、私たちは日常の中にひそむ、ささやかな喜びを発見するのです。
ふと訪れる思いがけない幸せ、束の間の至福の瞬間――それらはカオスの中でも輝きを放ち、私たちに人生の予測不可能な美しさを思い出させてくれます。最終的に、幸福とはコントロールしたり完全に理解するものではなく、その絶え間なく進化し続ける姿を受け入れるものなのかもしれません。
幸せは、まるでカオスのように予測不可能です。それは予期せぬ瞬間に生まれ、光、動き、そして発見の中で姿を現します。本インスタレーションでは、ダブル・ペンデュラム（複振り子）のダイナミックな動きを通じて、幸福の持つカオス的な性質を表現しました。その動きは光や布、色によってとらえられ、変化しながら形を成します。
ペンデュラムの予測できない動きは、幸福のはかなさを映し出します。常に変化し、決して同じパターンを繰り返さず、それでもなお内在するリズムに従って揺れ動く――それは、私たちの人生における幸福の姿と重なります。
各インスタレーションはそれぞれ独自の感覚的な体験を提供し、訪れる人々に「幸福がどのようにして私たちの前に現れるのか？」を問いかけます。動きと素材の相互作用が、絶えず変化する視覚的な物語を生み出し、観る者に「幸せとはどのように形を持つのか？」を考えさせる機会を与えます。本作のタイトル「f(∞) = ?」は、無限の可能性としての幸福を象徴し、その多様な形を探求することを促します。
The Prompt*
